How They Work

Heat pumps do not generate cooling or heating. They transfer heat from one location to another using refrigerant to facilitate this transfer. In the summer months, heat is removed from your home and transferred to the outside; during the winter, the heat pump absorbs the available heat in the air, concentrates it and disperses it to your home.

Benefits of a Heat Pump System

  • Very energy efficient – heat pumps use only 25-50% of the power that a whole home air conditioning system uses, making them very energy efficient systems.
  • Can be ducted or ductless – heat pumps are very versatile and can be used in a number of systems, including both ducted and ductless ones.
  • They offer both heating and cooling – heat pumps are 2-in-1 devices that can effectively heat and cool your home.
